Gamescom is almost here! From August 20 to 22, Klabater will showcase exciting new reveals and hands-on demos. Visit us at Gamescom (booth B43/ C48 in Hall 4.1) to get an insight into our exciting catalog.

 

Klabater, a video games publisher and developer, is sharing its heritage with a famous CD Projekt (some even call us CD Projekt’s granddaughter as we originally started as part of this well-known company). This is why we love story-driven games.  We steer more and more towards publishing and creating games with captivating stories, regardless of the genre. Like it was in the case of We. The Revolution, our recent indie-hit about the life of a judge in the bloody period of French Revolution, or Apocalipsis – a gothic danse macabre inspired game about the end of the world.

We would love to invite you to our booth at Gamescom to tell you whole new different stories and let you play hands-on demos of our three upcoming exciting titles.

Here are the stories we want to tell you at Gamescom 2019 in Cologne:

CROSSROADS INN (hands-on)

Crossroads Inn is our self-developed and ambitious title that uniquely blends classic real-time management sim gameplay with old-school approach to RPG (think of fantasy version of The Sims with RPG feeling invoking memories of games like Baldur’s Gate). The game was presented hands-off on last year’s Gamescom, now we would like you to try hands-on demo.

Crossroads Inn consists of two unique modes offering totally different gameplay: Story mode with a deep RPG campaign and Sandbox mode designed for fans of hard-core simulation games. The already received a lot of attention a few months ago with a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter backed by almost 1300 people from 48 different countries, who decided to support this ambitious title.

SKYHILL: BLACK MIST (hands-on)

The original Skyhill debuted in 2015 and sold 200 000 copies on PC and consoles until today. Skyhill: Black Mist is not just a plain sequel. It is a much bigger survival & stealth-action experience set in a full 3D environment.

Carve your own way in a semi-open world of Skyhill condominium that is haunted by mad cultists, but also within infrastructure buildings such as a school, shopping center, business lounge, cinema, underground parking space and a variety of technical locations. You constantly have to search for medicine to sustain yourself, gather and manage resources, craft new tools and weapons to survive as long as possible in this hostile environment. Solve the mystery of dark mist’s origins. Nothing is as it seems, try to distinguish reality from illusions and find out what’s real and what’s not.

HELP WILL COME TOMORROW

Help Will Come Tomorrow will be officially announced in early August but we already want to invite you for a first hands-on presentation. In Klabater we think of this game as a “spiritual successor” to We. The RevolutionIt’s a different genre but story-wise it is also a grim tale about tough times of social unrest – this time in Russia, just before the Bolshevik revolution started. You will find characters inspired by charismatic and controversial historical figures like Lenin or Hemingway.

A group of passengers who survived the mysterious catastrophe of Trans-Siberian railway train must survive in a harsh climate until rescue arrives, while facing many dangers, their weaknesses and, above all, their own psyche. People from different social and economic classes have to cooperate and make decisions that often go against their beliefs, either by putting them to the test or by completely breaking them. Will they servive and at what cost is up to the player.

The basic mechanics of the game will focus on the survival of the characters (meeting their needs, gathering resources, expanding the camp, taking care of security), but the player will quickly find that to win, he needs something more: figure out the personality of the characters and relations between them, mitigating conflicts and taking care of the morale of the camp. You may choose to act selfish but it is cooperation that will allow you to win and survive.

SUMMARY OF CROSSROADS INN’S CAMPAIGN ON A KICKSTARTER!

The crowdfunding campaign of Crossroads Inn on Kickstarter ended successfully yesterday. Players from all over the world have raised $38.641 dollars, to support the development of the game. Crossroads Inn will appear on PC and Xbox One in Q4 this year!

More than six months before the release, almost 1300 people from 48 different countries, decided to support this ambitious title, which is undoubtedly a success of developers. The creators tried to get 30,000 dollars, which would help the studio to implement additional functionalities in the game. However, thanks to the enthusiastic support of the community, the collected 38K will allow the studio not only to cover the expenses for which they applied but also to add to the game additional functionalities such as the ability to create mods and employ a world-class lector.

For me, it was really surprising that the comments and ideas of the community were so relevant and accurate. The quality of the conversation and the contribution of the people who took part in the campaign is incomparable to other forms of interaction on the Internet. The supporters really care about the best possible product, which is also reflected in their donations. The whole environment of accidental Internet screaming and criticism of trolls is gone here, and there is a joint discussion on the vision of the game, which gives huge synergy and results. We are already introducing some of the community’s ideas into the game – says Patryk Pietraszkiewicz, head studio Kraken Unleashed.

Each person who supported the game on Kickstarter will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with developers and have an influence on the development of the game. Relationships established with players during the campaign will be continued on a special Discord channel, which will be accessible to all those who decided to support the Kickstarter action.

Without a collection on Kickstarter it would also be very difficult to reach players from the USA, who are a very important target group for us and who supported us most willingly during the action. Crossroads Inn website on Kickstarter was seen by tens of thousands of people from 88 countries – quite an extraordinary result for a small studio, which creates its first game! – says Michał Łowigus, brand manager of the studio.
